Groves brace seals win for under-13s while Wood impresses between the sticks.

Max Groves' double sealed a 2-1 win for the under 13 boys as they beat Stockport 2s at Sunday's Greater Manchester League.

The team also drew 1-1 with Timperley 1s and narrowly lost in their other games despite a magnificent performance from goalkeeper Sam Wood.

Tom MacLeod and Daniel Bates were at the heart of the team's good defensive play while Captain Drew Ilsley turned in another stellar performance in midfield.

Jim Mair starred for the Men’s 2s in a mature and skillful performance as they drew 4-4 with Golborne 2s.

Having come back from 1-0 down and led three times, the team could not hang on for the win with Stuart Higginbottom, Rob Skelley, Tom Frame, and Owen Monk all scoring.

Players’ Player Stella Connery scored in a thrilling 3-3 draw for the Ladies’ 3s as they took on Bolton with only ten players.

Sisters Tasha and Gabi Weaver were in inspired form with Tasha also netting alongside Beth Harper while Captain Jennie Dixon made some impressive saves between the sticks.

Brad Bates and Andy Power scored again for the Men’s 1s but it wasn’t enough to see off a strong counter-attacking Deeside Ramblers 2s as the Greens lost 3-2.

The visitors scored in the opening minutes and added to their tally with a penalty stroke and a breakaway goal but despite Bates’ late consolation goal, Urmston could not find the winner.
