The Ladies' 2s set up a date with destiny against fellow promotion hopefuls University of Manchester as they won twice over the weekend.

Urmston’s Ladies 2s set up a cup final showdown when they beat league-leaders Rochdale Ladies’ 1s 2-1 this weekend.

Captain Moe Rothwell and Izzy Povah neeted to send the Greens into the final of the GMWHL Divisions 3 and 4 cup with Carolynn Barratt, Caz Butcher and Becky Shepherd solid in defence.

In the league, their emphatic 6-1 win over Manchester Moss Park Ladies’ 3s 6-1 saw them move back into second place with Rothwell and Charlotte O’Toole netting braces and Danielle Harvey also firing home.

Bronwen O’Toole and goalscorer Faye Wilson terrorised the opposition from start to finish and they will be hoping for more of the same when they play fellow promotion hopefuls University of Manchester Ladies’ 3s on the 18th March cup final.

Man of the Match Luke Taylor was at the heart of a solid defensive display for the Men’s 1s as they beat Lymm Men’s 1s 4-0 over the weekend.

Steve Brittle’s opener was all that separated the sides going into the last 15 minutes before goals from Stefan Wasilewski, Luke Fidler, and Jonathon Downes sealed the win.

The result keeps Urmston top of the league with one eye on next weekend’s clash between fellow challengers Liverpool Sefton 1s and Knutsford 1s.

Dan Downes netted twice in a commanding Man of the Match display as the Men’s 2s drew 2-2 with Prescot Men’s 2s.

Facing a team tougher opposition than the Prescot side beaten 14-1 by Urmston earlier in the season, the Greens battled back from two goals down but were left to rue missed opportunities as they split the points.

Finally, the Ladies’ 1s got back to winning ways as they beat basement club Bowdon Ladies’ 3s to seal at least a top 9 finish.
