First XI move into pole position as Men's club complete winning weekend.

The Men’s 1s moved top of the league with two wins over the weekend as they won 3-1 and 6-2 over Keswick and Bowdon 3s respectively.

Andy Power helped himself to two braces with Brad Bates notching twice alongside a double for Stefan Wasilewski.

Jonathon Downes also nudged Power’s long pass into an empty goal after the talkative Bowdon goalkeeper had been sin-binned.

Mike Tonge’s tireless display against Keswick earned him Man of the Match on
Saturday while Bowdon were unable to cope with Richard Wood’s midfield masterclass on Sunday.

Matt Downes’ hat-trick spearheaded the Men’s 2s’ continuing fine form with a 6-1 hammering of Horwich Men’s 1s.

He was joined on the scoresheet by brother Dan Downes and Sam Brocklehurst’s strike to round off another emphatic victory.

The win leaves the Greens in third place with four games left having won five of their last six and scoring 29 goals in the process.

The Men’s 3s meanwhile moved into fourth place as they beat City of Manchester 4s 6-3 making it three straight wins.

The Ladies’ teams struggled against strong opposition however, with table-topping Deeside Ramblers 1s beating the Ladies’ 1s 5-1.

The Ladies’ 2s also fell to league-leaders Rochdale 3-2 and University of Manchester 3s 5-0.
