Charlie Weems’ virtuoso strike was the best of a good bunch as the Men’s 1s kept their promotion chances alive with a 4-0 win over fellow hopefuls Knutsford Men’s 1s.

Owen Monk, Mike Tonge and a rare Richard Wood goal capped the scoring with Man of the Match James McLaughlin’s saves helping keep a clean sheet.

Elsewhere the threadbare Ladies’ 1s fell 5-2 against Sale Ladies’ 1s the 2s hammering University of Manchester Ladies’ 4s 8-0 to keep themselves in the promotion hunt.

The Men’s 2s were aggrieved to see their 3-1 lead overturned in a late 4-3 to South Manchester Men’s 3s but the Greens are still in pole position to finish in the top three.

Si Constable helped himself to a brace and Man of the Match as the Greens left frustrated by clinical opposition and some disputed decisions.
