Well done to all four Urmston teams who were victorious whilst in action this weekend.
Read on for the individual match reports....
Oldham 1s v Urmston Women's 1s
0 - 1
The first game of the season took the Women’s 1s to the familiar territory of Oldham.
An evenly matched first half showed the potential for either team to break through and have an opportunity on goal.
Some great saves from Kit Young enabled the defence to be solid and structure their passes from the back.
The outfield players worked as one unit, fluidly moving for one another and creating the opportunity for Emily Fell to strike in the D and get the only goal of the game.
Urmston’s determination throughout the second half made sure they got the well-deserved win.
Player of the Match went to Gemma Booth for being solid in defence.
Wally of the Week went to Emma Brady for her dramatic diving clearance off the back line.

South Manchester 3s v Urmston Men's 1s
0 - 2
First game of the season and first win for the Men’s 2s with a 0 – 2 victory over South Manchester.
A great team performance, typified by the high press that kept South Manchester in their own half for the majority of the game and limited them to a handful of opportunities of breakaway attempts.
Goals from Nate Illsley and Steve Coupe in the second half of the game gave the 2s their deserved win.
Player of the Match went to Andy Shenton for his crucial tackles and tracking back.
Wally of the Week went to Drew Illsley for wearing blue socks instead of red and getting a green card.

Didsbury Northern 7s v Urmston Women's Development Team
0 - 2
The first game of the season for Urmston Women’s Development Team meant debuts for Ella Boothroyd and Suji Banerjee.
The team, having never worked together as one before, were giving an indication of what they were capable of early in the first half and pushing Didsbury Northern back towards their own goal.
During the second half of the game, the junior players really took charge, leaving the four senior players to be mere spectators in the game.
The first goal came when Georgia O’Toole-Smart intercepted an attack from Didsbury Northern, sending the ball out to Laura Cotter on the left who swept a hard ball into the D which was converted confidently by Ciara Carruthers.
The tenacity of Georgia Boothroyd in the middle of the pitch enabled some lovely passing amongst the youngsters with Maisie Power commanding a defensive line and Suji Banerjee dominating the right hand side of the pitch.
Their team work created some more chances on goal with Ella Boothroyd narrowly missing scoring on her debut following a save by the keeper.
The tenacity of the players paid off as a second goal came from Laura Cotter and the girls got their well-deserved first win of the season.
Player of the Match went to Suji Banerjee for an all-round performance.
Wally of the Week went to Rachael Power for a deflection towards her own goal which thankfully grazed the post and went wide. If it had been down the other end, it would have been a fantastic attempt at a goal!!
